Kenya Black tea is among the best quality black tea world wide and ranked 3rd in tea exporting worldwide. The tea is grown in small scale farms and the majority of the tea pickers are women, which helps them to support their families. Black tea is processed from young, downy leaves, buds and stems, which are then fermented before being rolled and dried.
The dried leave go through a processing known as cut, twist and curl (CTC) process, where all the leaves, buds and stems are crushed/ground to equal sizes, mostly dust and fannings, yielding stronger, thicker and brighter teas and ensuring a higher number of cups of tea per unit measure.
